Deciding we were going to head south an early start was in order. We arrived at the end of the Black Top which is at the start of the Padre Island National Seashore (PINS) just after 6.30am.  Looking south you have 62 miles of undeveloped beach which can be some of the best fishing you will experience.

In the first few miles plenty of holes and blocked guts that any Trout fisher-person has to try.

The conditions and water clarity, including weed improved the further south we went.  The driving was not bad but is still very soft through the High Banks 18 to 28 miles south.

In the 30s the weed disappeared and the water clarity was 8 with plenty of bait to be had. Jacks were seen racing through the first gut, not in big numbers , two or three at a time, from the 25 south.

It was not long before at every stop one of us had hooked up. By the end of the day we had landed Reds, Trout, Sharks and Jacks. I will put a video on Youtube latter this week.  http://www.youtube.com/nickaway

This Shark was caught on the Breakaway 903 and Team Daiwa Advantage reel. The Lure was a Rapla Skitter Walk.

Current Conditions: Slick with a light SE wind under 10 mph. No new weed. Driving at a 5 but will improve as tide drops this afternoon. Water clarity: 7  Getting reports of good trout being caught on Top waters this morning.
